Beauty Products Emptied in May 2017

I'm due for Microneedling/Infini RF on Thursday and am understandably nervous after reading all about grid marks and months and months of downtime. A sudden onset of three new pimples has not helped. On the other hand, I read horror stories about subcision, and that wasn't a painful procedure, so I'm hoping this one will go as smoothly as well. Stay tuned for updates.
I've been "building up" my skin to withstand the aggressive procedure, with plenty of TLC. Here's what I used up.

LookFantastic Beauty Box March 2017: The Elle Edit

March 2017's LookFantastic Beauty Box is the Elle Edit - for a while now, the beauty box has been accompanied by a copy of the Elle UK magazine each month, something that I've come to love. This month's box has been specially curated to bring us "the most exciting beauty products" around.
Of course, the box comes with the Elle UK magazine, featuring Emma Watson. There's also the Beauty Box magazine - now a glossy number with a few articles, and not just a product card.

Beauty Products Emptied in January 2017 + Link Up

Several products among the January 2017 beauty empties have me torn up on whether to repurchase or not. On the one hand, they are brilliant, and they work. On the other hand, I do have quite a few equally brilliant replacements in my cupboard at the moment. Read on to find out which products.

Here are the beauty products I used up in January 2017, and my quick impressions of each.

Beauty Products Emptied in October 2016 + Link-up

In October, my skincare routine has been more regular and diligent than it was in September. I have been going through a multi-step routine for the face every morning and evening, including double cleansing on most evenings, and have moisturised all over twice daily. I've used AHA/BHA acids and Vitamin C almost every day. See here for my 10-step skincare routine.

LookFantastic Best of British Beauty Box August 2016

I went to university in the UK, and had a lovely time in the aisles of House of Fraser, Debenhams, Boots, Selfridges, Harrods, and Superdrug, despite being on a student budget. So when I found that LookFantastic's August 2016 Beauty Box was themed #LFBestOfBritish, my excitement and expectations hit the roof. So many of my favourite brands are British, and LookFantastic itself retails worldwide from the UK. I did, however, expect the box to be primarily skincare.

Belli Skincare Face Wash, Eye Cream, Hydrator: For Glowing Skin

A couple of years ago, "glowing" skin meant oily in my book, and I was doing all I could to make my skin as dry as a desert. Harsh treatments; little hydration. A huge protest later, my skin got its message across - the glow comes from within as fresh skin is revealed, is a sign of health as dead cells are cleared away, and can be achieved with active ingredients such as alpha-hydroxy acids, which increase the rate of cell turnover and replacement.
The world of skincare acids can be daunting. One of the gentler AHAs out there is lactic acid, which occurs naturally in our bodies. American brand Belli Skincare incorporate lactic acid in their products.

Beauty Products Emptied In April 2016

M y new skincare routine includes drinking three litres of water a day - more if I am working out. I work out at least three times a week, even though my derm isn't a huge fan of sweat on my face right now. Also, six hours' sleep. I know, I know; we will get to eight eventually. Baby steps.
Product-wise, I go through non-foaming cleansing, acid toning/pads, hydrating mists, treatment, facial oil and a final coat of moisturiser - in that order - two times a day. Until January 2016, my routine involved a harsh cleanser, some kind of serum OR moisturiser - if I could be bothered - and oodles of benzoyl peroxide. Two - three at the most - glasses of water a day. What sleep? *Hangs head in shame*.

Beauty Products Emptied in January 2016

For once, there is a makeup product among my empties. There is, as usual, much more skincare, but a lot of it was used in December rather than January. I am taking things slowly because of the staph outbreak and only use prescription products now but have been purging the harsher products from my cabinets and - hurrah - buying new skincare after careful examination of INCI lists and consultation with my derm. Will show you my haul posts once everything gets here.

Beauty Products Emptied in November 2015 + Link Up

How did you enjoy Black Friday weekend? Hauled much? What are you getting on Cyber Monday? I am on a makeup shopping ban until Boxing Day so I only managed to get some books as Christmas prezzies. I intend to treat myself to something nice on December 26 instead. Let's see if the new Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette appeals in swatches. Meanwhile...

Here are the beauty products I used up in November 2015 and my thoughts on each - and a link-up!

New face care routine and challenge with MEG 21 products

Combating glycation and skin damage with my new skincare routine.

New face care routine with MEG 21 products

I have not been happy with my face care regimen of late. The dry weather, coupled with heavy anti-acne treatment and a bit of air-travel, has led to flaky, but still oily skin. Worst of all, lack of sleep and all the stress have ruined my under-eye area. The flakes look worse under foundation despite moisturiser, so it is time to change things around and go in for a new skincare routine.
Just as excess sugar is harmful for the body, it is also damaging to the skin. The sugar molecules bind to the elastin and collagen proteins in the skin, in a process called glycation. This leads to the formation of harmful free-radicals and proteins, oxidative stress and damaged skin. Supplamine, a molecule proven to counter the harmful effects of glycation, was actually developed during laboratory research on diabetes! And, I am now testing out a range of skincare products with Supplamine as the key ingredient.

Beauty products emptied in November 2014

Beauty products emptied in November 2014

There are three things to keep in mind when you want to prevent yourself from hoarding beauty products, in order to make yourself use up the products in your stash. The first is, the more you use up, the more you will need to buy - which is a good thing, right? Secondly, expiry dates! And finally, the empties posts you can do every month with all the tubes, jars and sachets waiting to be binned. It is these three factors which help me use up as much as I can, along with all-over moisturising two times a day. You will be surprised at how quickly those pots of body butter empty up, and at how soft your skin becomes. Right, I'm waffling.

On to the beauty products I used up in November 2014 and my thoughts on each.

Beauty empties from October 2014

Beauty products emptied in October 2014
Seeing an empty jar, bottle or tube of skincare or makeup now gives me as much pleasure as buying a new product does. Doing empties posts has helped me use up products in my stash regularly - it gives me such a good feeling when I throw away all the empty containers and packs at the end of each month.
If you find you are a serial hoarder, I suggest hanging a little bag on the handle of your shower door and tossing in empty products so you can take a picture of it all at the end of the month and then throw it all away - you will be surprised by how much you use up, just so you can throw the jars in the bag and get your empties photos done!
I managed to use up a number of beauty products in October 2014. For one thing, I had a bunch of half-full, half-empty products. For another, some of them were nearing the expiry date. Thirdly, because I travelled, I used up travel-sized and sample-sized products easily. It was all skin or hair care, though. I did not finish up any makeup.

Take a look at the beauty products I emptied in October 2014 and my quick thoughts on each.

Beauty products used up in September 2014

Beauty products used up in September 2014
You know a month is almost over when the little bag on the shower door handle is almost full. That is where I toss in my empties during the month. Once I take pictures of the containers and packets inside, the bag is trashed - as are its former contents - and replaced with a new, empty one. At some point, I want to work on cleaning the empties up at least before I take pictures. However, this is not a glossy magazine, but an ordinary blog run by a harum-scarum person who wishes there were 50 hours in a day, 100 days in a month and 25 months in a year, so all she does is points shoots and leaves. Both omission of punctuation and pun intended.
I have not had a very consistent skin care regimen in September and only managed to use up one face mask. I did try to soften up my dry frizzy hair, though. There is a fortune awaiting whoever invents a haircare product that hydrates without oiling up and de-flakes without drying up.

Beauty products emptied in August 2014

Beauty products emptied in August 2014
Would time please slow down for half a second so that it can sink in that we are actually in the 21st century? When did it become September? It was 2013 a minute ago.
In August, I tried out some new hair care products, and continued to use a face pack at least once a week. I am actually running out of sheet masks now. Apparently sheet masks hold the essence or serum thing in place beneath the sheet and promote faster absorption. But since I am buying Memeboxes regularly, I will be getting more sheet masks soon.
I also tried unsuccessfully to find a HG eye cream. Or one that even works.
Accordingly, last month's empties are grouped into hair care products, cleansers, face packs, eye care products and everything else.

Here are the beauty products I emptied in August 2014 and my quick thoughts on each.

Lush Cosmetics Enchanted Eye Cream review

Lush Cosmetics Enchanted Eye Cream review
I have mad love for Lush Cosmetics, especially for their bath bombs, massage bars, conditioners, lip scrubs, soaps... right, pretty much the whole range. The products actually work for me and leave me smelling as amazing as they do, and leave my skin and hair in good condition. So when I saw the Enchanted Eye Cream at Lush last August (Lush haul post here), I bought it rightaway, having read great reviews, thinking here, at last, was my Holy Grail eye cream.

Here is my review of the Lush Enchanted Eye Cream.

Beauty products used up in January 2014 and quick thoughts on each

Beauty products used up in January 2014 and quick thoughts on each
I haven't skived off full-on moisturising even one day in January 2014, though I have been super-busy that I didn't even wear a face mask all month until the last day. I also used hand cream more or less regularly, though I must confess to wiping it off on my PJs soon afterwards. Not too bad for my resolutions. I didn't make any major beauty discoveries, nor was I too disappointed with anything.

Anyway, here are the beauty products I used up in January 2014.

Benefit Cosmetics makeup and skin care haul, including foundation, perfume and more

Benefit Cosmetics makeup and skin care haul, including foundation, perfume and more
Benefit Cosmetics is one of the brands that actually drew me into makeup. I first saw their products in 2010 and I was hooked by the packaging on the spot - I have been a firm fan of Porefessional from then, and have been repurchasing and hoarding it. Apart from the Hydra Smooth Lip Colors I swatched and reviewed here, I picked up some more makeup and skin care from Benefit Cosmetics from my trip in December, including repurchases. Here's what I hauled:
