Revolution Pro Full Cover Camouflage Foundation Review, Demo, Test, Swatches

Revolution Pro's Full Cover Camouflage Foundation promises to cover blemishes, scars, and even tattoos. It is a vegan, cruelty-free foundation that costs just £7 for 25ml, and comes in 18 shades, just like other foundations and concealers from the Revolution Beauty range of products.
There is also a Full Cover Camouflage Concealer available, in 18 shades as well - review of that to follow soon. I call this one the best drugstore foundation of 2018, and the best drugstore full-coverage foundation.
I've live-tested it on VERY severe cystic acne and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation - as you will see further below. For reference, I have very oily, acne-prone skin.

Revolution Pro Makeup Haul + First Impressions

Revolution Pro is the "professional" range of makeup from Revolution Beauty, a.k.a the company behind Makeup Revolution. The moment I heard this range was out, I wanted in. I treated myself to a few goodies for my birthday - this range has everything, from foundations, concealers, brushes, brow products, eyeliners, eyeshadows (singles as well as palettes of various sizes and forms), lippies (bullet and liquid), highlighters, and more. The range is cruelty-free and vegan, and most products are made in Taiwan.
My haul doesn't include everything, of course - but there's quite a few interesting products in there. Stay tuned for individual review posts.

Makeup Revolution Fast Base Foundation Stick Review, Demo On Oily Skin

Makeup Revolution's Fast Base Foundation Stick costs just £5, and is a buildable medium-to-full coverage foundation that blends out like a dream.
Let me get this straight. I dislike stick foundations. I've noticed that they go on streaky, are hard to blend out, and don't stay on very well on my freakishly oily skin.
This one is the exception. And, I can't get over the cost! It is cheaper than The Ordinary's foundations. There are 18 shades, with more being added soon. You can take it along while travelling; nothing happens when you drop it - been there, done that - and, while I require some mattifying powder over lunch, it does perform quite well on my skin. As well as the average high-end foundation does.

Choosing the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation Shade For Olive/Warm/Tan Skintones

Choosing the right foundation shade in-store can be a nightmare at the best of times. All that store lighting, sales assistants with their own ideas, the distractingly huge array of products....
When buying online, the nightmare is all the worse! Different monitors, lighting, confusing online swatches....

Over the last few years, I've bought eight foundations online without being shade-matched in-store for the brand prior to buying - Tarte Amazonian Clay, By Terry Densiliss, Kevyn Aucoin SSE (advised by MUA friend), TheBalm Even Steven, The Ordinary, Chantecaille Future Skin, IT Cosmetics CC Cream, and Huda Beauty #FauxFilter.
I was singularly lucky to have hit the jackpot when it came to shade matching - with the exception of the IT Cosmetics, where Medium is too pale and Tan is way too deep for me, but that is because they do not HAVE a shade for me, rather than because I picked the wrong one. The same is the case with The Ordinary - 2.1Y is too deep, the rest are too pale or too red. Again, not because of my choice, but because of the brand's shade limitations.
In all the other six cases, I picked the perfect shade match for me, thanks to intensive googling, comparison with other foundation matches, advice from a MUA friend in one case, and guesswork.

Today, I've got swatches and demos of the Huda Beauty #FauxFilter Foundation shades for the warm-yellow/medium-tan/olive part of the spectrum - specifically, shades that cater to South Asian/Indian/Middle Eastern, and Latino skintones. Sorry, everyone else - unfortunately, this blog doesn't get much by way of PR samples (I get, what, FOUR a year? And those are mostly skincare), and I don't buy up things I don't use. Ergo, the shades I chose are in my own range, apart from a few samples I received as GWPs.

So hopefully, this will help those who are warm-yellow, medium to tan, olive-hued, in choosing the right Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation for them. For reference, I've also included the full range of every foundation shade I wear, and a comparison with NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation.

Best of Beauty 2017: Makeup Favourites Part I

Mum took me shopping for clothes over Boxing Day, and it was an absolute riot, with crowds everywhere. Anyway, we compromised, with me buying mostly navy blue dresses, and a couple of greys, browns, greens, and maroons thrown in for good measure. I have no idea why I prefer sombre colours so much - it just won't go away.
I also managed to get my paws on the Beautylish Lucky Bag for 2018 - can't wait for it to arrive; stay tuned for my unboxing.
Before it arrives (it only ships out by Jan 12), let's take a quick gander at 2017's best makeup products. There are too many to go, so I've split it up into two posts. Stay tuned for part deux shortly.

GRWM: Easy Rose Gold Daytime Makeup Tutorial With Foil Eyeshadow

I did this quick and easy rose gold eye makeup look with foil eyeshadow - this was the first time I played with foil eyeshadows, and boy, AM I impressed! They are so creamy, glide on so well, and are easily blendable. Not to mention how opaque they are, and how they last even without primer. The only problem is that you may have to use your fingertips to pat or glide them on, rather than a brush. Or maybe a very stiff-bristle brush could do the job; since I've gone out of my way to buy only soft-bristle brushes, I cannot prove this theory.
You can wear this look to daytime parties over the Holiday season; it's just about subtle enough!
Enough of that, though - the tutorial is right ahead.

Beauty Products Used Up in September 2017

I was going to do an Empties' video; unfortunately, my studio is still undergoing acoustic treatment. The good news is that there are results and the echo is definitely reduced, but the bad news is that all the acoustic foam and the panels are ruining my walls, although they haven't affected the lighting. So this one is a blog post.
Pity, that - I actually managed to use up quite a bit of makeup this month! I'm very proud of that; I now have a self-imposed scheme. For every 10 makeup products (the same applies to skincare) that I empty, I can buy ONE product. I hope this scheme will help curtail buying in 2018, and help me finish up more.

Scroll down for the beauty products I used up in September 2017, and my quick impressions of each.

Light Red Makeup Look With Coloured Raine Cosmetics

Last week, I did a bold-for-me makeup look with Coloured Raine Cosmetics' Queen of Hearts eyeshadow palette, and Matte Lip Paint in 24 Seven. The latter is a light red lipstick, and I used the red eyeshadows in the palette, to come up with a very 1940s look, combined with my shorter hair - I look rather like an Auxiliary Territorial Service Member from WWII.
Anyway, scroll down and take a look!

Makeup And Skincare Favourites: November 2016

Twenty-four days to go. Have you decorated your Christmas tree and done your shopping yet? I'm in the middle of gift-wrapping and card-writing. It looks like I'm going to be travelling soon, so I have a week or so to get everything sorted. I'm also accompanying Gramps on hospital visits - he has been diagnosed with osteo-arthritis and severe anaemia. The latter is supposed to be the side-effect of ongoing treatment for cancer.
Meanwhile, I'll tell you about the beauty products I've been loving recently.

Autumn Makeup Look With Bourjois Cosmetics

Bourjois has always been my favourite drugstore makeup brand. The quality of their foundations, eyeliners, blushes, bronzers, lipsticks and mascaras is as good as department store brands. The only thing I don't love about Bourjois is their eyeshadows - the pigmentation isn't awesome, and they don't have the kind of large palettes I prefer anyway.
Feelunique has 3-for-2 on Bourjois right now, and they ship worldwide, so I've just been Bourjois-hauling!
With all the Bourjois love going on, I decided to do a Fall makeup look with six Bourjois makeup products - and other brands as well. Warning: This isn't my usual look; I'm wearing dark lipstick!

FOTD: Wycon Olive Green Eyeshadow, Korean Cosmetics

A few days ago, I received a fun Korean beauty box, which I will show you later this week. I have been playing with the contents of the box ever since. This is a makeup look I did with some of the products, supplementing whatever the box lacked with other cosmetics from my own stash.

Makeup Look: Becca Highlighter + Lorac Pro 3 FOTD

It took a while for me to join the highlighting bandwagon. I was apprehensive about how it would suit my skintone, whether I would look like Edward Cullen, or if I would have to replace/alter/avoid other products in my makeup routine, and so on.
Some months ago, I had tried "strobing" with reasonably decent results (see here), so when I received the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in the Cult Beauty Summer 2016 Goody Bag (here), I experimented with it. Here are the results.

Algenist Repairing Tint & Blur Moisturiser Review, Swatches, FOTD

I now have post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from a nasty infection I had in December; so I need full coverage makeup, though it is fading. Now that the weather is warm, I have been experimenting with tinted moisturiser to see how far things have improved and if I can ditch the heavy warpaint.
Algenist Repairing Tint & Blur Moisturiser is a multitasker that claims to work as primer, foundation, skin regenerating treatment and broad spectrum UV protector. It comes in just four shades - Light, Light/Medium, Medium and Tan.

Bourjois Air Mat 24Hr Foundation Review

Bourjois Air Mat 24hr-Hold Foundation was among my 2015 Foundations of The Year - see full post here - I see this foundation making the list again easily this year. It has also become my favourite drugstore foundation, trumping the famous Bourjois Healthy Mix.
I had already done an FOTD with this foundation - see here. Now here are my thoughts on the product itself.

Birthday Beauty Haul 2016

It was my birthday yesterday. Despite having made up my mind - and convinced family and friends - to avoid cake this year, the lovely chef at Le Meridien MADE one very quickly once he found out what was going on, and I cut it at 10:30p.m. with complete strangers joining in. Sadly, I only have iPhone photos from the celebrations. Will show you my purple EOTD once I'm energetic enough to resize those photos.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation Review, Swatch, FOTD, vs Custom Cover Drops

How could I completely forget to review one of my favourite foundations of 2015 (see full list here)? Because I haven't worn makeup much in 2016 - I went out "full-face" for the first time just last week.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation is heavy-duty. Opaque. Matte. JUST what my skin needs right now. I rate it right next to Cover FX Custom Cover Drops, reviewed here. The formulae are even similar in terms of coverage.

Back To Makeup FOTD With Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation and Lipstick

YES! My derm said I could wear makeup. Possibly because she was tired of my woebegone expression. You have no idea how thrilled I am; I have been in exile since December. Antibiotics end on March 3 (subject to review) and my topical regimen is also expected to continue till then. And there is visible improvement - mostly hyperpigmentation left, with 3-4 active spots.
I picked a foundation with full coverage for my first "outing" of 2016. Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation was among my favourite foundations of 2015 - see list here. I'll swatch and review it soon. The rest of my look was basic and quick - nothing fancy.

2015 Favourites: 8 Top Foundations and BB/CC Creams

Happy New Year, people! I hope we all have an amazing year ahead in which happy memories are made, goals are accomplished, dreams come true, and life is mostly pleasant and hassle-free.
In 2015, I was lucky to find my HG foundations - full coverage, matte finish, great staying power. Both drugstore and higher end. About five of them are HG, each serving a different purpose, as you will see.

Cover FX Custom Cover Drops Review

It took me eight weeks to realise that my review for this had not actually been published. Nice. Got to love how I am always on the top of things, eh?
Cover FX Custom Cover Drops is THE BEST makeup product of 2015. It. Covers. Up. Everything. Political scandals. Water damage on the carpet. Black money. Cracks on the walls. My cystic acne.
It also lets you control the shade, finish and coverage. I have to thank Courtney of Phyrra.net, whose review swayed me into buying this.
